Until August 7 will stay open the 4th Contest of Exploitation of Research at the University (known by its acronym in Spanish, VIU), which aims to promote and guide innovation in the university community.
Undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to obtain this benefit, even if they are near to finish or finished their research process, in context of their thesis or final projects held in Chile. Their research results can become entrepreneurship projects based on science allowing them to transform into designs.
As in previous years, VIU Contest will fund projects up to 26 million Chilean pesos, awarded in two stages: first one for business plan and second one for implementation of the working plan, which ends with the realization of the enterprise.
Interested students must to be sponsored by their university and a guide professor who has been part of research projects funded by Conicyt, or who is leading or has led projects with state funds as Innova Chile, FIA, ICM, or who has received funds from university’s intern projects.
For the 2014 contest, were incorporated mentors figures with expertise on entrepreneurships, and national & international consulting firms, key aspect that can be very important in order to accelerate the projects into a successful validation stage for the solutions users.
There will be special incentives for applicants, such as Fondef-DuPont Award, which awards to a project presented at the first stage $ 10 million Chilean pesos and a stay for the student and their guide professor to the research center of the company in Brazil. Also, two awards of honorable mentions will be awarded, with the benefits of traveling to DuPont Research Center in Brazil.
